If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, frees your energy, and inspires your hopes.


Today Dan and I will continue the series of the science of happiness.


Do you know what influences happiness the most?



Well, genes may be what influences happiness the most.


Behavioral geneticists and psychologists attribute about 50 percent happiness to genetics, 10 percent to life circumstances, and 40 percent to personal choices.


Even if people are not born with a bright outlook, committing themselves to improving their happiness on a regular basis can have an influence.



Are people less happy than in past generations?


Children and teens today have higher expectations for their life, yet income inequality and other factors make achieving success more difficult.


Therefore, more people value wealth over relationships than they did previously, which can lead to diminished happiness in adulthood.



These reasons and others may be why adults are less happy than they used to be.

This Healthy Chocolate Cranberry Cake is moist, naturally sweetened, and burst with juicy cranberries! ✨



Ingredients


🌾 1 cup (120g) whole wheat flour (or almond flour for gluten-free option)

🍫 ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder

🥄 1 tsp baking soda

🧂 ¼ tsp salt

🍒 ¾ cup (100g) fresh or dried cranberries

🥛 ¾ cup (180g) plain Greek yogurt (or dairy-free yogurt)

🍯 ½ cup (120ml) maple syrup (or honey)

🥚 2 large eggs (or flax eggs for vegan option)

🥜 ¼ cup (60ml) melted coconut oil (or olive oil)

🌿 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions


One️⃣ Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch (23cm) cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Two️⃣ Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. 🌾🍫

Three️⃣ Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, maple syrup, eggs, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract. 🥛🍯🥚

Four️⃣ Combine & Fold in Cranberries: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the cranberries. 🍒

Five️⃣ Bake: Pour the batter into the cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. ⏳

Six️⃣ Cool & Enjoy: Let the cake cool before slicing. Serve as is, or drizzle with melted dark chocolate for extra indulgence! 😍
