Happiness depends more on the inward disposition of mind than on outward circumstances.

CONTINUING THIS WEEK ON HAPPINESS AND ON LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE. ALONG WITH HOW SAFE IS MEXICO?

Hello Followers,

Happy Week-end to all!

Dan and I bought a noise machine several months ago, we were using the YouTube channel to get noise; such as airplanes, trains, fireplace, rain on a tin roof, thunder storms and even a fan.

We were getting tired of the commercials in the middle of the noise, especially when we would almost be asleep and then real loud a commercial.

Dan and I started doing this when we lived in Mexico, one day Dan accidentally broke one of our glass dishes.

Out of imagination, he would ask if I wanted to go with him to China to pick up another and then he would put on a train video.

We would listen to this all night until we fell asleep.

Titanic Steam Engine Sound 10h

However, last night we listened to a video of the Titanic ship moving.

Where do you think we should end our trip at?

By the way nothing sunk.

Now, let’s continue with how this would influence our immune system.

Psychoneuroimmunology is a relatively new study on how the mind influences the immune system.

There is conclusive research that indicates that our thoughts and feelings have a direct effect on our immune system function.

Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI for short) is a study of the Mind-body connection.

PNI researchers study how our emotions and thoughts impact:

- The brain

- Hormones (endocrine)

- Nervous system

- Immune system.

Your thoughts affect your immune system.

It can work the opposite way as well, changes in the immune system create changes in your nervous system which lead to changes in your emotions.

Quiet and simply put stress and unhealthy eating habits can influence how you think and feel.

PNI research is concerned with the subtle interactions between our nervous, endocrine and immune systems and disease.

The interaction between the different systems is complex but can be explained in a simplified manner.

For example, if you are experiencing fear, anger or other emotions that may increase your stress level, then these unsettling thoughts are picked up by the brain.

The brain then stimulates the endocrine system to release hormones that have an adverse effect on the immune cell’s ability to divide.

This causes a decline in immune function which may result in your becoming more susceptible to illness. ~ Patty Carrosicia, R. N.

Your mental state affects your immunity.

Research today is beginning to unravel the complex connection between your psychological state and your immune system.

101 WAYS TO HAPPINESS; by Mike Annesley.

Since all the research of keeping healthy, leads to making your cells happy; this book will help your mental health to be happy.

That is the first step in keeping your cells happy and keeping your body healthy.

CHAPTER 1; HAPPILY, YOURSELF

Today, ELIMINATE BAD HABITS-

Bad habits undermine peace of mind.

They may go deep but should be tackled immediately.

Start with small lifestyle changes to make your mental outlook more flexible and authentic.

For example, talk to strangers, try new leisure pursuits, limit onscreen time.

Avoid situations that usually trigger your excesses, this might mean spending less time with certain friends.

Scale down your worst habit in stages, replace it with a new positive habit.

Do mindfulness meditation in order to bring self-awareness to your efforts.

QUOTES ABOUT LIVING

HAPPINESS

Our attention spans may have been caught up in the pressure of chasing the faster, the bigger, the more, and new.

But our souls have known all along that achievement of any of those things brings only temporary satisfaction before the race begins again.

They do not bring happiness.

Happiness is found in looking at what you have right here, right now, and feeling at peace and appreciative of it all.

Striving to improve is an excellent pursuit as long as it doesn’t take away from the fulfillment of the present moment.

Those who find happiness at every step won’t have a need for any top.

Those who will be happy only at the top will only seek a new top once they arrive there.

Wake up and be awesome.

Keep dreaming.

Don’t be afraid to love, it’s what we’re all here for.

Do what’s in your heart and you won’t have nearly as many regrets.

Have the courage to disappoint people if it means being honest, because they value your honesty more than your half-hearted approval.

Things won’t always be fair or right, but act as if you were a billion people and have faith that the good you do matters.

Every little light brightens up the world, and the only one you can ever shine is your own.

Shine bright, do right, love on.

How many are you out there are left-handers?

I raise my left hand! When I was growing up, I learned everything right-handed; which made everything I did the wrong way.

WHY ARE THINGS SO TOUGH ON LEFT-HANDERS?

DID YOU KNOW?

When the parents have mixed handedness, the mother’s handedness will have the most influence on that of the children.

A left-handed mother and right-handed father should have more left-handed children than vice versa.

CONTINUING THE SERIES ON HOW SAFE IS MEXICO?

THROUGH PICTURES AND VIDEO'S

Dan and I grabbed an opportunity nine years ago, when we took on the adventure and moved to Mexico. Back then, we didn’t know what to expect, except that both of us were alive and ready for a change. We had been going to Tijuana for cancer treatments and knew somewhat what we were heading into. We ended up living in the center of the country however; better for travel purposes and it was nothing like what we had thought about. To this date, we are back in the states living in Virginia and what we took from Mexico was friendships, culture and understanding of their ways of life.

WITH PICTURES AND VIDEO'S

Through thousands of pictures that I took, Dan and I are showing how safe Mexico is. There is a saying ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’; this is so true! A picture tells a story just as well as, if not better than, a lot of written words.

"Chinese proverb. One picture is worth ten thousand words."

So, we will be posting a gallery of pictures on each post, hopefully you will see each one has a story.

Today will continue the series on LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE, by Elizabeth B. Brown. Dan and I continue to share ways to benefit and help keep one’s health cells healthy. A wise man told me ten years ago, when one is in balance with themselves; one stays healthy.

CHAPTER 9 – LET THE PAST GO

Today, CONSIDER THE LESSONS LIFE TEACHES –

When we begin to detach from the difficult person in our life, the longing often diminishes.

As we begin to look at our situations objectively, we recognize that time does not stop longing; choice does, a choice that appreciates the lessons.

It is choice that centers you on what you do have so you can stop longing for what you do not have.

The past, goods or bad; can be primer for the present and future.

Life is full of growth-lessons.

We can’t change some things but we can learn from those and make the best of our situation.

We can quit longing for what is impossible and choose the best from what is possible.

Continue tomorrow –

This is the time to get ready for food and remedies that heal; alchemy of herbs. In the coming week, Dan and I will be blogging the benefits of ELDER. It’s amazing what and how elder can help keep your body healthy?

Elder flowers can be harvested anytime they are in their prime.

All the flowers should be a creamy white color; some may be just about to open while others in the umbel are fully opened.

In order to encourage bugs to find a new home, you place the freshly harvested corymbs in an open box or basket and leave them outside for a couple of hours.

By the time you’re ready to process the flowers into food or medicine, the bugs have flown off.

The flowers are the reproductive organs of the plant, the berries (containing the seeds) follow after the flowers are pollinated.

Unripe (green) berries are harvested and made into a caper-like preparation.

The ripe berries are harvested whenever they have turned a deep blue, purple, or black color (depending on species).

In an area with early frosts, wait until the first frost to enjoy slightly sweeter berries.

Both the flowers and berries are used fresh or dried for later use.

When using fresh elderberries, the process of removing the berries from the stems can be time-consuming.

Here is a simple trick to make the task easier.

Place them in a bag in the freezer.

Let them sit overnight (or several hours).

Once the berries are frozen you can use a fork to easily separate the berries from the stems.

(You don’t have to worry if a little bit of stem gets into your tea or syrup preparation.)
