CONTINUING ON THE SERIES, HOW THOUGHTS AFFECT OUR HEALTH/BODY? AND ON THE SERIES; GRATITUDE AND HOW IT CHANGES OUR BRAIN TO BE HAPPIER. PLUS, THE BOOK TEN-MINUTE RELAXATION FOR MIND AND BODY.
Hello Followers,
Happy Friday!
December is the weekend among the months, as the Christmas vibes are evident from the very beginning.
It is one of the coldest months and coziest too as everybody wants to stay inside their warm and comfortable beds with fluffy blankets.
In December, many countries experience heavy snowfall and enjoy a long vacation with their families and friends.
December is also the month of analysis as people analyze what they were up to the full year and what they should now plan for the upcoming year.
They start thinking about new resolutions they will make during New Year’s Eve and eventually break those resolutions within a week.
Hello, December! Surprise us!
And as we go into the Christmas mood, our mind-body connection is far more powerful.
This leads us to our new series, how thoughts affect our body/health?
Release of adrenalin and cortisol start, and our digestive system is affected.
Many people experience irritable bowel syndrome in this state.
As soon as these physiological changes happen, the person begins to indulge in scary self-talk, for example, “Oh no, here it comes again”,” what if I panic?”
The self-talk which is connected to our thought process, leads to anxiety and panic. It is interesting to note that if this becomes a habitual pattern and chronic, the cumulative effect can give rise to several stress related illnesses, for example, ulcers, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, chronic back pain, constipation, diarrhea, insomnia, headache, stiff neck, weight gain, weight loss.
Poor emotional health can weaken immune system and lead to cold, infections, abuse of alcohol, substance, and tobacco.
These are signs of poor health.
Research has also found some evidence of infertility and it also speeds up the aging process.
Long term, it can rewire the brain leaving the person vulnerable to anxiety and depression.
Breast cancer and ovarian cancer have also been linked to cumulative stress according to a study done by McAllister, et al and published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics.
Connie Lillas, a psychologist states that three types of reactions happen under stress:
1. Foot on the gas which gives rise to anger and agitation.
2. foot on the brake, which gives rise to feelings of depression and withdrawal.
3. foot on which leads to a state of “freeze” when the person becomes immobile under pressure.

DECEMBER 2nd, Dan, and I thought on continuing this segment with the series with some fun; What is it about December that is so significant during this month?
World Pollution Prevention Day – December 2, 2022
World Pollution Prevention Day is observed around the globe on December 2.
With eye-opening movements like ‘Fridays for Future’ taking charge, the world today does not need many reminders to realize the consequences of climate change.
However, it is important to note that everyone has a huge role in this fight against pollution.
A clean environment cannot be achieved with the efforts of a selected few.
Small acts such as planting a sapling, dumping garbage at the right place, recycling plastic items, are the first steps to turning our planet into a sustainable place to live.
So, start today!
This day is created to instill awareness on environmental pollution and its negative impacts on our health and the planet.
The most hazardous type of pollution that has taken the world by storm is plastic pollution.
From degrading soil quality to killing marine life, plastic pollution will soon become a bane to our existence.
International organizations such as the United Nations (U.N.), the World Health Organization (WHO), Greenpeace, and others have been urging countries all over the globe to take precautionary measures to control pollution.
However, the responsibility does not lie only on our governments; individuals must come forth to make every possible effort to reduce environmental pollution.
Based on research and various surveys, it has been estimated that air pollution is posing serious health problems for people worldwide, but it affects those in low- and middle-income countries the most.
In fact, death rates due to air pollution have surged drastically in recent years.
Owing to this concern, WHO has imposed strict air quality norms for countries like India, Bangladesh, Qatar, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Mongolia, to name a few.
While most of us are aware of the preventative measures that we can take, we also must enlighten those who are ignorant.
People must be familiarized with the fatal repercussions of pollution to make them realize the gravity of the situation.
Besides, these measures can start right from your home.
So, if you wish to create a sustainable future for your kids and the younger generation, do not delay and act right now!
Time is precious and is priceless, so Dan and I will continue each day to pull from a box of 365 inspirational quotes, one quote and share with you.
Today is:

Per Dan and my experience this is another component in keeping ourselves healthy, meditation.
By using your five senses, you can learn to relax in just ten minutes.
