Living in a state of gratitude is the gateway to grace.
Hello followers,
Welcome to February 2023 and it is Hump Day.
Happy Wednesday!
The other day Dan and I started a new series on how important to nourish your soul to keep your life balanced.
The number one way to give yourself the spiritual care you deserve is by practicing mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the art of focusing your attention on the present moment.
It is a deep awareness and understanding of everything as it happens in real time.
Mindfulness is best practiced through meditation and other activities like yoga or deep breathing.
Among its benefits, mindfulness helps us choose healthy thoughts over thoughts that can damage our mental health, help us monitor our stress response, and even slow down time!
It helps you find peace, be more grateful, and extend your inner peace to those around you.
As you practice mindfulness, celebrate the small things.
We are conditioned to focus on and celebrate our big achievements, instead of our small wins.
However, if you fail to ignore the small things and keep rushing from one thing to the next, you will quickly become demotivated.
Who you become isn’t determined by the end goal.
Rather, it’s determined by the person who you become along your journey to success.
When you celebrate the small things, what you’re doing is celebrating your habits.
Take time to pause, slow down and savor the small things.
Instead of obsessing about the future or dwelling on the past, be more aware of the present moment.
It is all you got.
Relish in it!
This new year Dan and I will be continuing the book, Ten-Minute Relaxation, For Mind and Body by Jennie Harding, until the end.
Whenever you are feeling under pressure, ten minutes is all you need to relax totally, using tools that are always with you; your senses.
This book is packed full of wonderfully simple ideas and exercises for using sight, taste, smell, hearing, and touch and that vital sixth sense of intuition to rebalance your energies and bring you back into harmony with the natural world around you.
Identify your favorite sensory relaxation solutions and combat that stress!
Per Dan and my experience this is another component in keeping ourselves healthy, meditation.
By using your five senses, you can learn to relax in just ten minutes.
CHAPTER 3; INTUITION/SIX SENSE
SENSORY SYNERGY
PICTURE THE OCEAN/ TEN-MINUTE EXERCISE
You may wish to record this on a tape to help you.
Pause at the end of each sentence to let your impressions form in your mind.
A beautiful image is the ocean.
Sit and let the image fill your vision, relax, and breathe comfortably.
After a few minutes, close your eyes and let the picture come to life in your mind’s eye.
What kind of sensory impressions come to you as the image fills your mind?
Are they visual, linked to the landscape, the colors, the depths of the water?
Are they heard, linked to the sound of the waves, the rushing of the water over stones on the shore?
Are you aware of the smell of the brine, the tang of seaweed?
Can you taste salt in your mouth?
Are you itching to put your feet in the water and let it rush around your toes?
Concentrate on the image of the ocean and let the sensations fill you.
You may find one sense particularly dominates your awareness, try and let the input of the others come through as well.
Now, instead of being aware of individual sensory impressions, relax, and just let the whole image of ocean fill your awareness.
You do not have to try.
Just breathe and let it happen.
How does this feel?
Sit quietly for a few moments and let this impression flow through you.
Then stretch fingers and toes and let yourself come back to the room.
Getting in touch with that whole image can be quite magical, a point where you actually experience a kind of relationship with the special qualities it brings.
Try this exercise outside in different locations you particularly love.
Tomorrow, SENSORY CREATIVITY
As Dan and I start a new year; we will be posting daily 365 morning meditations for joyful days all year long.
The book is SUNRISE GRATITUDE by Emily Silva.
February 1st
OUT IN THE OCEAN, dolphins ride the waves alongside surfers.
They are playful and curious.
Swimming in pods, they take turns jumping and flipping through the water, looking like they do not have a care in the world.
Be like a dolphin and infuse more play into your life.
Jump in puddles, laugh aloud, ride a bike, learn to surf!
Choose to open your mind to the more playful and curious side of yourself.
Life is your playground.
The PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.
We stand by this and continue to do daily; walk, meditation, and Qigong.
If you would like to follow with us; hash tag words #walk, #meditation #Qigong on the right of the main blog page.
Until Thursday, the real gift of gratitude is that the more grateful you are,
the more present you become.
