RECAPPING THE NEW SERIES ON EMBRACING THE PRESENT MOMENT, HAPPINESS AND ON LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE. ALONG WITH HOW SAFE IS MEXICO? BONUS, THE SIX SENSES AND YOUR WELL-BEING FOR NOV. 14th TO NOV. 20th.

Hello Followers,

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy of activities and festivities.

Menu planning, décor, and table setting are just a few of the tasks ahead of you.

For Dan and I, we express our gratitude for our family, friends, and health.

We continue to look forward in sharing our gratitude.

Dan and I will always have the humble spirit of knowledge we have learned from our doctors and remember that life is all about ups and down, good and bad, and happiness and sadness.

We learned you should accept the reality and live life to the fullest in the present moment.

In focusing on the present moment, you can transform your perspective on life and rid of your worries and depression.

We realized that we can only change what we can and to accept what we can’t change.

Once we came to terms with the truth of life, and stopped running from it; we then learned that we can achieve success in living a happier life.

Life has taught Dan and I that we are not always in control.

Life is full of experiences, lessons, heartbreak and pain.

But it has also shown us love, beauty, possibility and new beginnings.

Embracing it all.

It makes us who we are, and after every storm comes a clear sky.

101 WAYS TO HAPPINESS; by Mike Annesley.

Since all the research of keeping healthy, leads to making your cells happy; this book will help your mental health to be happy.

That is the first step in keeping your cells happy and keeping your body healthy.

CHAPTER 1; HAPPILY, YOURSELF

MANAGE YOUR ROLES

Every role we fill (mother, daughter, manager, friend) brings its own responsibilities, its demands on our time and energy.

These will often clash.

You can’t completely satisfy everybody.

Aim for something less than perfection, your best qualities will shine through without your aiming for the sky

Give what you can, in the best balance you can.

Hang onto the essential you.

This will help you in many roles, like motherhood.

After all, mums set an example of how to live, not just provide nurture.

THE SIX SENSES AND YOUR WELL-BEING

Touch, taste, smell, sight, and sound can improve your well-being in all sorts of surprising ways.

Let’s talk about TASTE and how it effects our health.

Eighty percent of what the brain interprets as a taste sensation is in fact really coming from our sense of smell.

For that reason, researchers usually focus on smell as the more important input, even when it comes to what we put in their mouths.

Not only do people smell food through their noses, but we smell it even more strongly when we place it on our tongues and particles from the food waft back in our mouths and into our nasal passages.

Studies suggest people can differentiate between as many as a trillion different odors, but taste when smell is taken out of the picture; is in comparison a blunt instrument, capable only of picking out five different inputs; saltiness, sweetness, bitterness, sourness, and savoriness (sometimes called “umami.”)

You might think that would leave little opportunity for manipulating taste in the interests of better health.

But in fact, there are a few techniques that are proving useful.

One is the reassuring power of sweetness.

For centuries parents and care providers have given sugar and other sweets to children in order to distract them from things like a painful shot, or as a reward.

The phenomenon turns out to work just as well in adults.

Spence conducted an experiment where he asked students to plunge their arms into an ice bath.

The students reported significantly less discomfort when they were given some sort of sweet-tasting food just before the plunge.

“Strawberries, caramel, and vanilla seem to work as well with adults as sugar does with babies,” he says.

“And there’s evidence it applies in clinical settings in the same way.”

That doesn’t mean a person must be exposed to ice or a needle to get the benefits of sweetness, he adds.

A sweet taste appears to generally mitigate physical discomfort or unease.

Bitterness may also come in handy for health.

Research at Rutgers University has shown that people who are more sensitive to bitter tastes tend to be more selective about what they eat, and often end up with healthier diets that are lower in sugar and fats.

While it hasn’t yet been proven, researchers have speculated that this and similar findings on taste sensitivities might be put to use by adjusting the flavor intensity in foods so that healthier foods become more appealing.

But research like that is many years down the line.

The sensory approach to health and wellness is still in its early days, and there’s much for researchers to tease out and clarify.

But in most cases, there’s little cost and virtually no risks or side effects involved in experimenting with them on your own.

Go ahead and head to the nearest coffee shop for better productivity, or get a massage if you’re feeling blue.

It might help, and certainly won’t hurt.

How many are you out there are left-handers?

I raise my left hand! When I was growing up, I learned everything right-handed; which made everything I did the wrong way.

WHY ARE THINGS SO TOUGH ON LEFT-HANDERS?

DID YOU KNOW!

A certain portion of the population has always been left-handed.

This has been confirmed by cave drawings, investigating the damage done to ancient skulls and studying Stone Age tools.

20th.

Happiness is a how; not a what. A talent, not an object.

For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.

Life gives you plenty of time to do whatever you want to do if you stay in the present moment.

Live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find eternity in each moment.

If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.

CONTINUING THE SERIES ON HOW SAFE IS MEXICO?

THROUGH PICTURES AND VIDEO'S

Dan and I grabbed an opportunity nine years ago, when we took on the adventure and moved to Mexico. Back then, we didn’t know what to expect, except that both of us were alive and ready for a change. We had been going to Tijuana for cancer treatments and knew somewhat what we were heading into. We ended up living in the center of the country however; better for travel purposes and it was nothing like what we had thought about. To this date, we are back in the states living in Virginia and what we took from Mexico was friendships, culture and understanding of their ways of life.

ALONG WITH VIDEO'S

Through thousands of pictures that I took, Dan and I are showing how safe Mexico is. There is a saying ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’; this is so true! A picture tells a story just as well as, if not better than, a lot of written words

"Chinese proverb. One picture is worth ten thousand words."

So, we will be posting a gallery of pictures on each post, hopefully you will see each one has a story.

Today will continue the series on LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE, by Elizabeth B. Brown. Dan and I continue to share ways to benefit and help keep one’s health cells healthy. A wise man told me ten years ago, when one is in balance with themselves; one stays healthy.

CHAPTER 9 – LET THE PAST GO

Today continuing, ACCEPT YOUR REALITY

The butterfly doesn’t spend its life regretting the time it spent eating the trees.

It stops its old patterns, gets quiet within its cocoon and then breaks free to spend the next part of its life bringing joy and beauty to its world as it spreads its wings.

The experiences of your past, like those of the butterfly; can be used for good.

Out of them you may develop empathy and understanding that will help you, like the butterfly; spread joy and beauty.

This is the time to get ready for food and remedies that heal; alchemy of herbs. In the coming week, Dan and I will be blogging the benefits of ELDER. It’s amazing what and how elder can help keep your body healthy?

Did you know that elderberries enhance bone health?

The high content of essential minerals in elderberries helps improve bone strength as well as the formation of new bone tissues.

Millions of individuals are afflicted with osteoporosis, but increasing your bone density in the younger decades can considerably delay the onset of this grave medical condition.

NOTE AND REPEAT – PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth

THIS IS AN ENCLOSURE – will be at the end of all the blogs, for I stress; this daily routine will heal and keep your body cells happy.

As I end this blog, Dan and I for several years have shared our experiences with enjoying life while managing cancer. By keeping healthy, our routine daily has been walking (exercise), meditation (for stress), Qigong (exercise and for stress).

I know some will say they do not have enough time with work, kids and household chores!!!

Burr, time for inside walks.

Like walking inside the mall near our apartment, for they are playing Christmas music and love the decorations

Dan and I have put together videos from WALK AT HOME together on our website, that you can follow in home; when you have short periods of time and unable to go out. They are from 15 mins up to 30 mins depending on the miles. This is one of the first steps to making your cells happy!!

Also, meditation videos, help to lower stress and is also one of the first steps to making your cells happy; click on https://www.thejourneytogoodhealth.com/meditation

The POWER OF NOW | 20-minute Guided Meditation

Step back from your busy daily life for a few minutes.

Most of the energy you lose, vanishes through your thinking mind, your mental factory.

Wandering between yesterday and tomorrow.

So, please come back to the now.

This guided meditation is about getting back to this moment, right here, right now.

Let me take you to beautiful Ibiza (where we live), to have a break and feel the power of nature.

“Surrender is a gift that you can give yourself. It’s an act of faith. It’s saying that even though I can see where this river is flowing, I trust it will take me in the right direction.” ~ Debbie Ford

We are still working on Qigong video’s to be posted on the website for easy access, until now you can go to the blog https://www.thejourneytogoodhealth.com/blog and on the right-hand side are hash #tag words, just click on the word #walk #Qigong #meditation.
