THIS WEEK’S SERIES ARE ON REMEMBER TO CELEBRATE MILESTONES AS YOU PREPARE FOR THE ROAD AHEAD AND ON LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE. PLUS, THE HERB – ASHWAGANDHA.

Hello Followers,

Happy Friday!

Dan and I took yesterday off from all our responsibilities to surround ourselves in nature.

I love being among the chipmunks, birds, and the beautiful flowers.

These moments are milestones for Dan and me.

So, we will be posting on exploring how to define milestones for yourself.

Defining milestones for yourself can be a tall order.

Here is one way, defining your endpoint.

What do you actually want to accomplish?

Is it securing a job in your field?

Boosting your grade point average above 3.0?

Remember, goals come in many colors.

They might be personal, financial, professional, social, emotional, or spiritual.

There’s no wrong goal, just as long as you know your why, and are committed to it.

Now, let’s continue with exploring the 17th experience that most all experience, reaching the end of life.

The final milestone for every person is reaching the end of life.

In old age, you might spend more time getting your affairs in order and reflecting back on the life you’ve led.

If you have ideas for your funeral, burial, or cremation, it’s time to lay those out for your family to follow through with.

It’s the 24th day of June, Dan and I thought on continuing this segment with the series with some fun; What is it about June that’s so significant during this month?

National Food Truck Day – June 24, 2022

We celebrate National Food Truck Day on the last Friday in June, June 24 this year

It’s a special day to champion food trucks and encourage the hardworking men and women whose food businesses support the local economy.

People celebrate the day by purchasing from their local food trucks, which offer a variety of tasty temptations from gourmet burgers to sushi, ice cream, assorted fries, and tacos.

Food trucks are inspired by centuries-old food carts dating back to the 17th century.

Vendors traded food from small carts or moveable mini kitchens, and the practice is still common today where they are found on street corners, in parks, and catering to hungry crowds at special events.

Chuckwagons were the first types of food trucks.

They sold edibles like beans, cured meat, coffee, and biscuits to ranchers and loggers in the southern part of the country.

And it’s, Swim a Lap Day –

It’s the ultimate antidote to the classic summer conundrum.

How do we work out without working up a sweat and stay cool at the same time?

To the ones for which this may not apply, it’s still a day for you, since swimming or just floating is fun for everyone!

Since humans are not yet able to fly, swimming is the next best thing.

Just think back to the last time you were in the pool or any other waterbody and felt that weightless feeling of the water just carrying you.

If the trip down memory lane is not convincing enough, perhaps the thought of staying cool without having to use up extra electricity will appeal to you more.

Whatever your reasons for taking a dip, it’s a great way to beat the heat and get some exercise in, all while having a splashing good time, especially with those you love.

Though the origins of Swim a Lap Day are as mysterious as the ocean depths, the activity of swimming itself can be traced back several thousand years, to the ancient Greeks and Romans.

These civilizations built beautiful artificial pools for training athletes, conducting military exercises, and having a jolly good time, too.

Evidence of this can be found in paintings of the time, as well as certain written manuscripts.

Some say that swimming can be traced as far back as 7,000 years ago, due to pictorial evidence of figures doing breaststroke depicted on cave wall paintings in Egypt and other places in the Middle East.

Still, others say that the ancient Japanese were the ones who invented it and, long before swimming was a sport in the Western world, the Japanese were holding swim races as early as 36 B.C.

Time is precious and is priceless, so Dan and I will continue each day to pull from a box of 365 inspirational quotes; one quote and share with you.

Today is:

DANCE, SMILE, GIGGLE, MARVEL. TRUST. HOPE. LOVE. WISH. BELIEVE. MOST OF ALL, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF THE JOURNEY, AND APPRECIATE WHERE YOU ARE AT THIS MOMENT INSTEAD OF ALWAYS FOCUSING ON HOW FAR YOU HAVE TO GO.

Continuing from last year the series on LIVING SUCCESSFULLY WITH SCREWED-UP PEOPLE, by Elizabeth B. Brown.

Dan and I continue to share ways to benefit and help keep one’s health cells healthy.

A wise man told me ten years ago, when one is in balance with themselves; one stays healthy.

CHAPTER 17; WHEN YOU WANT TO HELP

WHY HELPING IS DANGEROUS-

It’s no wonder people question whether they should stay away and let the difficult person work out their own problems.

Helping is like walking through a minefield where the slightest wrong step sets off all kinds of explosions.

If you are forced to intervene in a crisis, your reward is resentment.

If your help fails to bolster up the person in need, you feel guilty.

If you sacrificed for someone who blew their opportunity, you may feel angry.

If the receiver feels demeaned by the gift, you are branded a controller.

If you cross the fine line of privacy, you are viewed with suspicion and fear.

If you allow emotions to drive you toward an easy solution, dependency mushrooms and twists the relationship into an unhealthy mix.

Continue tomorrow –

This week Dan and I have been blogging on the herb; ASHWAGANDHA and the benefits.

It’s amazing what and how ashwagandha can help keep your body healthy?

Today we are blogging about the types, usage and dosage.

Ashwagandha supplements are widely available online and in health food or vitamin stores.

Wonder how to take ashwagandha?

The most popular form of the herb is the root extract, but leaf extracts are also available.

You can find the extracts in capsule and powder forms.

The root and even the leaves are often used to make ashwagandha tea.

When purchasing ashwagandha supplements, make sure they’re standardized for human consumption.

The withanolide content should range from 1 percent to 10 percent, but not all supplements are labeled with this information.

Purchasing a high-quality supplement produced with gold-star standards is the best way to guarantee you get a product high in withanolides.

The higher the withanolide content, the stronger the effects of the supplement.

Of course, organic ashwagandha is preferable to non-organic.

When supplementing with an organic ashwagandha power or other product, the general recommendation is starting with 300 to 500 milligrams per day, with withanolides in a range of 5 percent to 10 percent.

Slowly increase your ashwagandha dosage, watching for potential adverse effects.

Many supplements recommend between 1,000–1,500 milligrams per day at full dosage.

Various sources claim the optimal ashwagandha dosage to take may be as high as 6,000 milligrams each day.

It’s smart to do this under the guidance of your naturopathic practitioner or health care provider, and when to take ashwagandha depends on why you are taking it.

A study published in the Journal of Ayurvedic and Integrative Medicine found that in the form of extract in capsules, with gradual escalating doses from 750 milligrams per day to 1,250 milligrams per day, ashwagandha was well-tolerated and safe on biochemical organ function and hematological tests.

It was able to improve quality of sleep, lower cholesterol levels and promote muscle strength as well.

You may find that ashwagandha doesn’t have the most appealing smell, but if you choose to use it in powder form, you can mix it with other foods or drinks to make it more pleasant and create a healing tonic.

You can try adding ashwagandha powder to an energy ball recipe, a turmeric or pumpkin spice latte or even to a smoothie.

Drinking ashwagandha tea is also a popular way to consume the herb and you can add a little organic honey to improve the flavor.

How long does it take for ashwagandha to work?

It may take two weeks or more to notice the benefits of ashwagandha, so be consistent.

It takes some time to reverse the damage of chronic stress and increased cortisol levels.

There isn’t enough evidence to say that taking the herb for a long-term period is safe, but there are several studies that include treatment periods lasting several months.

The PHRASE TO REMEMBER; Health is Wealth.

We stand by this and continue to do daily; walk, meditation, and Qigong.

LEAD YOU TO SOMETHING BETTER

The best way to treat obstacles is to use them as stepping-stones. Laugh at them, tread on them, and let them lead you to something better like milestones.

Until Saturday, every now and then one paints a picture that seems to have opened a door

and serves as a stepping stone to other things.
