WINTER FORMS OUR CHARACTER AND BRINGS OUT OUR BEST.

Continuing with a new series titled; NUTRITION

Hello my viewers,

The colder months are approaching and they get a bad rap. However, Dan and I happen to think that winter is pretty awesome. As a Floridian, living over 50 plus years down south, making a snowman is quite amazing.

Yesterday Dan woke me up around 3 a.m. to go look out the window at the snow. I jumped right up for this is all new to me. Last year, our first year back in the states; we only experienced snow four times and I was kind of disappointed.

“THERE’S JUST SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL ABOUT WALKING IN SNOW THAT NOBODY ELSE HAS WALKED ON. IT MAKES YOU BELIEVE YOU’RE SPECIAL.” – CAROL RIFKA BRUN

For one, countless homes are decorated with festive lights. Then there are all the holiday snacks just waiting to be enjoyed while watching a Christmas movie marathon. And best of all? Few things are as satisfying as watching white flurries fall on a cold winter’s day or, better yet, getting up and building a snowman.

Last year while visiting our daughter on Thanksgiving, Dan and I was able to make a snowman with our grandson. I also got down in the snow and made a snow angel. I felt like a kid and enjoyed every second of it.

“I WONDER IF THE SNOW LOVES THE TREES AND FIELDS, THAT IT KISSES THEM SO GENTLY? AND THEN IT COVERS THEM UP SNUG, YOU KNOW, WITH A WHITE QUILT; AND PERHAPS IT SAYS, ‘GO TO SLEEP, DARLINGS, TILL THE SUMMER COMES AGAIN.” – LEWIS CAROLL

This year we are going to experience going to see the festival of lights in our area. Do expect pictures coming up in the coming posts.

I’m going to continue on nutrition, it all starts with the foods we eat. There is this saying that I preach daily, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. On Monday, February 21, 2011, I posted a piece on a guide to organic foods. First, we all need to know what organic means. It’s much more than just going to the store and getting food that say ORGANIC.

What is organic food? While we may have heard about it for over thousand times, many are still in the dark about organic food and its benefits. I also posted on July 17, 2020 a recap of organic foods; this will start you on your way with a healthy body.

DUMMIES GUIDE TO ORGANIC FOOD

IF YOU DO JUST ONE THING – MAKE ONE CONSCIOUS CHOICE – THAT CAN CHANGE THE WORLD, GO ORGANIC

ORGANIC FOOD MEANS THAT WHICH DOESN’T POLLUTE THE SOIL, FOOD AND MIND

HEALTHY COOKING IS THE BEST PREVENTIVE MEDICINE

YOU DON’T NEED A SILVER FORK TO EAT GOOD HEALTHY FOOD

GARDENING IS THE ART THAT USES FLOWERS AND PLANTS AS PAINT, AND THE SOIL AND SKY AS CANVAS

IT’S NOT THE ONE PEST YOU SEE - IT’S THE THOUSANDS THAT YOU DON’T

Remember YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, and you know that means choosing plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. But as you wander the aisles of your local market, checking out the fresh produce, meats, and dairy products, you realize there's another choice to make: Should you buy organic?

Advocates say organic food is safer, possibly more nutritious, and often better tasting than non-organic food. They also say organic production is better for the environment and kinder to animals.

"We've had a strong 20%-a-year growth rate since 1990," says Katherine DiMatteo, executive director of the Organic Trade Association (OTA). She also says more land is going into organic production all the time -- up to 2.35 million acres in 48 states as of 2001.

“ADVICE IS LIKE THE SNOW. THE SOFTER IT FALLS, THE LONGER IT DWELLS UPON AND THE DEEPER IT SINKS INTO THE MIND.” – SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE

Until next time, when you see snow; close your eyes and hear the silent of it while listening to your soul. Let it speak to you as you watch it fall all around you. Next post will be; Is Organic More Nutritious?
